Qin Yan, PhD, Named Outstanding Investigator by American Society of Investigative Pathology

October 13, 2023

Qin Yan, PhD, Professor of Pathology and Co-Leader, Genomics, Genetics & Epigenetics Research Program, will receive the Outstanding Investigator Award from the American Society of Investigative Pathology (ASIP) at its upcoming joint meeting in Salt Lake City with the American Society for Matrix Biology and The Histochemical Society.

The ASIP Outstanding Investigator Award recognizes mid-career investigators with demonstrated excellence in experimental pathology research. ASIP’s Meritorious Awards Committee considered Dr. Yan’s published record of peer-reviewed research and the overall impact of his science, his teaching, mentorship, leadership in the field of pathology, and contributions to the Society in bestowing the award.

The ASIP Outstanding Investigator awardee is recognized each year at the ASIP Annual Meeting, where the selected awardee will deliver an Award Lecture. The meeting is set for October 22-25. Dr. Yan, who is also Director of the Center for Epigenetics and Biomarkers at Yale Pathology, will present his lecture on October 23 at 1:00 PM MT on “Epigenetic Control of Cancer Metastasis and Immune Evasion.”

Dr. Yan, also Scientific Co-Director of the Center for Breast Cancer at Yale Cancer Center, directs a research laboratory to elucidate the roles of epigenetic mechanisms that drive tumor initiation and progression and to translate their findings to the clinic. His laboratory has made significant contributions to the understanding of the KDM5 H3K4me3/2 histone demethylases and epigenetic regulation of antitumor immune responses.
