David Gibb, MD, PhD, post-doctoral fellow, working in the laboratory of Jeanne Hendrickson, MD, Associate Professor of Laboratory Medicine, and co-mentored by Akiko Iwasaki, PhD, Professor of Immunobiology, has received several awards for abstracts that he will be presenting later this year. The American Society of Hematology awarded the “ASH Abstract Achievement Award” for his abstract titled “Type 1 Interferon Regulates Inflammation Associated RBC Alloimmunization By Promoting Monocyte-Derived Dendritic Cell Erythrophagocytosis in Mice”. The ASH Abstract Achievement Award is merit-based and awarded to trainees with high-scoring annual meeting abstracts. The AABB has also awarded him the Outstanding Abstract Award for Trainees in the Fellow (Clinical or Research) category. That abstract, entitled “B cells Require Type 1 Interferon Signaling to Produce Alloantibodes to Transfused KEL-expressing RBCs in Mice” will be presented at the AABB annual meeting.
