About
Clinical Care
Overview
Rahmat Ali, MD, is a physician who specializes in vascular and interventional radiology and biomedical imaging. Dr. Ali uses imaging tools including MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, and ultrasounds to diagnose, treat, and monitor diseases and abnormalities.
One benefit of image guidance is that it can sometimes make surgery unnecessary because different wires, needles, and catheters can be used to intervene immediately and in some cases, are more effective than surgery.
Dr. Ali has co-authored a number of studies published in peer-reviewed journals, including a 2012 study exploring the causes of conditions, like hardened arteries, that commonly lead to heart problems. The study revealed that specific molecular conditions prevent growth of healthy tissue and cells, paving the way for a buildup of scar tissue in blood vessel walls, valves, and other tissues.
Dr. Ali is an assistant professor of interventional radiology and biomedical imaging at Yale School of Medicine.
