Virtual Tour for Applicants
Dear Applicants,
Due to the pandemic, we are only offering virtual interviews. I know this is extremely disappointing news and can understand how hard it is to get a feel of the place without an actual visit. Our chief residents have put together a virtual tour of the Emergency Radiology section, which can be viewed here.
For those who prefer to see pictures instead of a video, keep reading!
Briefly, the reading rooms at our main campus at York Street is built within the Emergency Wing, close to the ER. This structure is great for both ED physicians as well as the radiologists as we can walk over to see all our trauma patients and the ED physicians can easily come to our reading rooms for consultation- we work as a real team.
We have scanners dedicated for sole ER use, so that a patient can have all their studies, including CT, X-Rays, fluoroscopy exams and US, performed in suites adjacent to each other. A secretary triages all outside imaging uploads and coordinates calls regarding scheduling of studies, while a triage assistant, typically a medical student or radiology resident or RA handle all calls to the reading room.
Our other satellite centers are built in a similar fashion on a smaller scale. The SRC reading rooms as well as the hospital is undergoing a major makeover which will make it a world class neuroscience and emergency center. We use Powerscribe for dictation, Visage for PACS and Primordial for RIS. No more waiting for MPRs and MIPS- we make our own and read off MPRs!
