Yale Radiology & Biomedical Imaging offers an optimal, highly advanced and diverse environment in which medical students, residents, and fellows learn diagnostic and interventional radiology.

Residency Program

The Department offers residency programs in both Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology. A Medical Physics residency program is available.

Fellowship Programs

The Department offers fellowships in Breast Imaging, Body Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Pediatrics, Musculoskeletal Imaging, Neuroradiology, Cardiothoracic Imaging, Emergency & Trauma Radiology and Administrative Leadership in Radiology.

Global Outreach Program

The Yale Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Global Outreach Program provides additional opportunities for Residents in global radiology initiatives.

Research Programs

The Bioimaging Sciences Division faculty teach a significant number of courses to Yale undergraduate students and graduate students in Biomedical Engineering and the Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program, including Physics of Medical Imaging, Physical and Chemical Basis of Biosensing, and Biomedical Image Processing and Analysis. The faculty currently supervise 15 graduate students in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry and more than 20 postdoctoral fellows.

Resident research abounds with many residents presenting at national and international meetings as well as publishing their findings in peer-reviewed journals. Resident research has ranged from clinical investigations to bioimaging science studies, to medical management and public policy research.

Yale Diagnostic Radiology residents have routinely won nationally renown prestigious prizes and honors, including the top national prize in MRI sponsored by Bracco, a Fellowship sponsored by Amersham and The Body CT/MR Society, and a Magna Cum Laude Citation from the ASNM. Another recent honor was extended to one of our chief residents who authored a resolution regarding reimbursement rates for mammography and was passed at the recent AMA meeting.

In addition, Yale resident research is well represented at the annual radiology meetings every year since it's inception. One of our second year residents has been selected to attend the Introduction to Research Program sponsored by the RSNA/AUR/ARRS at either the RSNA or ARRS.
