    Biography

Dr. Riello is a board-certified clinical pharmacy specialist with extensive expertise in cardiovascular critical care, previously embedded within the Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Yale-New Haven Hospital for over six years. Dr. Riello earned his undergraduate degree and pharmacy doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy in 2012 and 2014, respectively, completing postgraduate residency training at Yale-New Haven Hospital thereafter. While serving as Yale’s dedicated CICU pharmacist, Dr. Riello developed a reputation for providing invaluable pharmacotherapy recommendations to the multidisciplinary advanced heart failure and interventional cardiology teaching service lines while precepting over one-hundred pharmacy students, residents, and even international pharmacists on their cardiology and critical care rotations. As a testament to his commitment to teaching, Dr. Riello's multitude of learners have nominated him for several honors over the years including the national American Society of Health System Pharmacists Foundation’s New Preceptor Award, Connecticut Society of Health System Pharmacists coveted Pharmacist of the Year Award in 2018, and Connecticut Pharmacists Associations Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award in 2019. He currently teaches several pharmacology-related lectures for the Yale University Physician's Associate Online and Traditional Programs as well as the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Riello is also an integral member of the Clinical & Translational Research Accelerator (CTRA) where he is an investigator on many innovative and practice-changing clinical trials that seek to leverage clinical decision support technology embedded within the electronic health record to close evidence-practice gaps for patients in cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic disease.
