    Biography

    Andrew Yan is a PhD student in the Department of Genetics at Yale University. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Brown University with a BS in Biochemistry, he has conducted significant research on ALS progression in Drosophila, HIV latency, and polymer chemistry. Since joining the Nicoli Lab in 2024, Andrew has focused on RNA localization and biomechanical forces in human cells, specifically investigating RNA-RNA interactions during the formation of G3BP1 RNPs and their influence on cell behavior. Using a variety of biochemical and microscopy approaches, he combines scientific inquiry with a dedication to teaching, mentorship, and cross-cultural leadership, fostering innovation and collaboration.
