Gabriel Betancur Velez

My name is Gabriel Betancur and I am a second-year medical student. I was born in Medellín, Colombia and moved to Connecticut when I was 12 years old. I graduated from Yale College in 2019 with a degree in Molecular Biology and have loved my time at Yale and New Haven for the past few years. After medical school, I wish to become a pediatric endocrinologist and contribute to finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes along with working with underserved and immigrant communities. At YSM, I enjoy volunteering at HAVEN Free Clinic, serving as a Graduate Affiliate for Pierson College, and playing on the soccer and basketball intramural teams.
