School of Management Black History Event: "Aftershock" Documentary and Panel Discussion

Join OID & the Yale School of Medicine for a screening of “Aftershock,” a documentary discussing the Black maternal mortality crisis in America, followed by a panel discussion. Learn more about the Black maternal mortality crisis here. Light dinner will be provided at 5:15 p.m., and the film will start at 5:45 p.m., following a brief introduction by Dr. Monique Rainford ’24. After the movie, Dr. Rainford will host a panel on the Black maternity mortality crisis with: Dr. Darin Latimore, MD (Deputy Dean and Chief Diversity Officer, Yale School of Medicine), Dr. Lou Hart, MD – (Director of Health Equity, Yale New Haven Health System; Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics), Dr. Beverley Sheares, MD, MS (Health Equity Thread Leader, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Yale School of Medicine), and Dr. Kristen Nwanyanwu, MD, MBA, MHS (Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Yale School of Medicine).

About the Film:
Following the preventable deaths of their loved ones due to childbirth complications, two families galvanize activists, birth-workers, and physicians to reckon with one of the most pressing American crises of our time: the U.S. maternal health crisis.
