Second-year students from Sim Academy at Yale received a behind-the-scenes tour of the Yale New Haven Hospital’s emergency areas this week. As they work toward finishing their year of learning, the group visited the "backstage" area of the emergency department.
The students received a close-up look at the ambulance bay and the critical response work that takes place during a real emergency. As they entered the emergency department, they observed the daily care provided in both the adult and pediatric areas.
The group also visited the radiology department and common spaces before ending their tour at the helipad. Authorized personnel took the students to the roof of Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital to see where helicopters land when patients need quick access to trauma care.
