Figure 16. Now that we know that a simple model of a neuron will generate the "kink" and variability of action potential generation in a neuron, we examined whether or not this was also true of a more realistic model of cortical pyramidal cells. To do this, we used the model of Mainen, Sejnowski et al. to examine the possibility that similar effects may be observed in a fully reconstructed layer 5 pyramidal cell.
