New York Magazine has included 55 Yale School of Medicine physicians on a list of the top doctors in the metropolitan area for 2003.
Spanning a wide variety of specialties from cardiology to dermatology and geriatrics and surgery, the list serves as a guide for patients seeking the best in medical care.
"We are delighted that this list includes so many of our physicians in almost every specialty," said Yale Medical Group Director David Leffell, M.D., professor of dermatology and chief of dermatologic surgery at Yale School of Medicine. "Yale is proud of the quality of its clinical services, and it is rewarding to see that our efforts are appreciated."
To compile the list, New York Magazine collaborated with Castle Connolly Medical, a research and publishing company. Thousands of top physicians in the New York area completed a survey that asked them to nominate top doctors in almost every specialty. Castle Connolly then refined the list based on hundreds of interviews with leading specialists, chiefs of service and other hospital personnel.
Cosmetic doctors were not included because they will be featured in an upcoming issue devoted entirely to cosmetic doctors.
