Enhancing Educator Development and Scholarship

Virtual Conference: Thursday, June 4, 2020

In consideration of the health and safety of the education community we serve, Medical Education Day at Yale will be offered on June 4, 2020 using virtual technology.

The day will include a live stream presentation by Dean Nancy J. Brown, virtual workshops and oral presentations by Yale educators, and a virtual poster session.

Yale faculty, alumni, fellows, residents, students and staff are welcome to attend. This conference is open to everyone from the School of Medicine, including the Physician Associate and Physician Assistant Online Programs, as well as our colleagues from the School of Nursing and the School of Public Health.

The structure of the virtual conference will allow for both synchronous (live) and asynchronous participation. Continuing medical education (CME) credit will be available. Virtual conference attendance is free for one or more events.

1:00pm-1:30pm - Live stream presentation by Dean Nancy J. Brown (via Zoom)

2:00pm-3:15 pm - Block 1 Breakout Sessions and Oral Presentations by Yale Educators (via Zoom)

3:30pm-4:45 pm - Block 2 Breakout Sessions by Yale Educators (via Zoom)

5:00pm-6:00pm - Panel discussion: "Online Learning: Lessons Learned and Future Directions" (via Zoom, details below)

You must register for Med Ed Day by Tuesday, June 2 at 11:59pm (Eastern) to receive access to Zoom sessions and other conference materials.

Important Zoom Information

In order to access Med Ed Day Zoom sessions, you should have the latest version of Zoom installed on your device. On Saturday, May 30, Zoom will implement security preventing anyone not using Zoom app version 5 or newer from joining new meetings. You may need to manually update your Zoom app.

Session Description:
This interactive session will provide an overview of YSM’s rapid shift to online curriculum delivery due to COVID-19. In large group sessions and breakout groups, we will discuss faculty development for online teaching, online session facilitation for small groups, and Team Based Learning.

We will provide a summary of the faculty and student feedback on the online delivery to date, and share best practices developed from this feedback and our experiences, as well as explore future directions. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss challenges in the on-line learning space.
