Save the Date: June 6, 2024 – Medical Education Day at Yale

The 12th annual Medical Education Day at Yale (Med Ed Day) will take place on Thursday, June 6. This in-person conference brings together the Yale health profession schools community and showcases the community’s outstanding work in medical education research and educator development.

We are proud to welcome Alison J. Whelan, MD, chief academic officer of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), as the Keynote, speaking about “Education Leadership: Milestones to Success.”

Jessica Illuzzi, MD, MS, deputy dean for education and Harold W. Jockers Professor of Medical Education, and William Rando, PhD, director of pedagogy, will facilitate a workshop on “Engaging Learners in Critical Thinking.”

In addition, Benjamin Mba, MBBS, professor of medicine; vice chair of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), Department of Internal Medicine; and director of DEI for graduate medical education, and Beverley Sheares, MD, MS, associate professor of pediatrics (pulmonology); and health equity thread leader, will present “Practical Strategies for Incorporating Anti-Racism into Your Educational Practice.”

The day also will feature engaging oral presentations, a poster session with a wine and cheese reception, and graduation ceremonies for the Medical Education Fellowship and the MHS Medical Education Track Degree Program.

Registration for the conference will open in mid-April.

Yale Medical Educator Series – YES! Bimonthly workshops via Zoom on Fridays

These sessions are designed for Yale School of Medicine educators, from novice to expert, with up-to-date, practical ways to engage and inspire learners in lab, workshop, clinical, and classroom settings.

Medical Education Discussion Group (MEDG) Series – Monthly groups via Zoom on Thursdays

This series is for anyone involved in, or interested in getting involved in, medical education. Each session is designed to address a timely topic of interest, which leads to an engaging discussion among participants.

Every YES! and MEDG session is scheduled from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. and is accredited for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ at no cost. Recordings of all sessions are made available on the Center for Medical Education website.
