New in 2024: Education Scholar Fellowship

March 22, 2024

A new Education Scholar Fellowship (ESF) provides faculty an enhanced opportunity to develop a deeper knowledge of and skills in medical education scholarship. (The ESF combines—and replaces—the best of two successful programs: the Center for Medical Education’s Medical Education Fellowship (MEF) and Internal Medicine’s Advancement of Clinician-Educator Scholarship (ACES) Program.) The ESF is offered by the Center for Medical Education under the leadership of Janet Hafler, EdD, associate dean for teaching and learning. Donna Windish, MD, MPH, professor of medicine (general internal medicine) is the ESF director.

The one-year program begins this July and runs through May 2025. It features an expanded array of education, mentorship, and leadership development opportunities. Fellows will explore topics including qualitative research, curriculum development, assessment, and evaluation of educational scholarship. Over the course of the year, participants also will develop a project to enhance their department’s or the school’s education programs, and will present a poster at the 2025 Medical Education Day at Yale.
