Smilow Welcomes New Radiation Oncologists

Yi An, MD, has been named an Assistant Professor in the Department of Therapeutic Radiology and provides care to patients with head and neck, gastrointestinal, prostate, lung, and central nervous system (CNS) malignancies. Dr. An formerly served as a Chief Resident in Radiation Oncology at Yale New Haven Hospital and received his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine.

Dr. An was the recipient of the Medical Scholars Research Fellowship from the Howard Hughes Medical
Institute for his study utilizing the Connectivity Map to identify small molecules that differentiate and eradiate
acute myeloid leukemia leukemic stem cells. Some of his recent research focuses on the treatment of HPV-associated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Dr. An cares for patients at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care
Center at Trumbull, located at the Park Avenue Medical Center, and also in Hamden at 2080 Whitney Avenue.

Sanjay Aneja, MD, was recently appointed Instructor in the Department of Therapeutic Radiology. He received his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine, during which time he published several research studies looking at geographic access to radiation therapy services and the distribution of the radiation oncologist workforce.

Dr. Aneja has clinical experience with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for lung, prostate, pancreas, and liver cancers, as well as with Gamma Knife Radiosurgery, Cyberknife Radiosurgery, and HDR Brachytherapy. During his residency at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Aneja received the Yale Innovation Grant for his work in cancer outcome
prediction using machine learning techniques. Dr.Aneja treats patients in the Gamma Knife Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital.
