YSM Continuing Medical Education Joins Office of Medical Education
On July 1, Yale School of Medicine (YSM) Continuing Medical Education (CME) joined the YSM Office of Medical Education. CME most recently had been part of Yale Medicine. Janet Hafler, EdD, who has been appointed associate dean for teaching and learning, will lead the CME office.

Yale Pulmonologist Dr. Hilary Cain Outlines How to Improve Lung Cancer Screening Numbers in the U.S.
Lung cancer is a leading cause of death in the United States, accounting for 25 percent of cancer deaths, yet it is estimated that only 6 to 8 percent of eligible people in the U.S. are screened for the disease. Hilary Cain, MD, says we need to do better. Cain is an associate professor of medicine (pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine) at Yale School of Medicine, and is also the section chief of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine at VA CT Healthcare System, West Haven.
Online CME: Cultural Sensitivity in the Patient-Clinician Relationship
Yale clinicians have created online coursework which meets the State of Connecticut requirement that licensed physicians and surgeons complete continuing medical education in cultural competency. The tutorial is available free of charge and its development was led by Esperanza Diaz, MD, associate professor of psychiatry, medical director of the Connecticut Mental Health Center's Hispanic Clinic, and an associate director of the Yale psychiatry residency.Source: Yale School of Medicine, Teaching and Learning Center
