We will soon be transferring to an upgraded version of the Form Builder. The new Form Builder has nearly the same functionality as the current tool, but with some bug fixes and a few extra features. Various elements of the interface have changed, so it may take a little getting used to, but the method for creating forms and embedding them on websites remains the same. Instructions for using the updated version of the Form Builder will be posted to the Web Group site soon.
New Features
The updated Form Builder contains a new feature which allows form users to submit a document along with their response. You will now be able to include a file upload widget in the form itself, so registrants can provide a document directly rather than submitting them separately in an email.
Also, the new administrative interface has an option to create a copy of an existing form. This is extremely useful if you need to make several similar forms with only slight variation. Rather than recreating the same fields over and over, you can copy the original times to create as many forms as you need, then edit them individually to suit each need.
In addition, there are a few other new features such as form deadlines and limits if it should only appear on the web in a specific timeframe, registrant limits if you need a specific number of responses, and t, which you can take advantage of to easily manage your registrants and responses.
The Transfer
All forms and form collection data will be transferred over seamlessly from the existing system to the new system. In addition, to protect against any data loss, we will leave the current FormBuilder system running for a limited period of time so it can be used to verify form options and existing records in case of any discrepancies
The transfer to the new system will be almost completely invisible to visitors of your website. The form data entry fields themselves will appear exactly the same. The only noticeable difference will be for forms which require a NetID login (the minority of forms). For these kinds of forms, registrants will now see some information about their registration after clicking the “Submit” button instead of the standard “Thank you…” text.
Additional information on the new Form Builder will be available soon, we’ll keep you posted!
