• 00:10So we oftentimes get questions.
• 00:12What's the difference between the clinical
• 00:14track and the clinician educator track?
• 00:16And because they have many similarities,
• 00:18if you look on those metrics,
• 00:20the similarities are in terms
• 00:23of their important contribution.
• 00:25Provide the highest quality of clinical
• 00:27care they may have involvement with
• 00:29trainees if they have access to trainees.
• 00:32People who may be at sites outside
• 00:34of the New Haven area may not
• 00:37have trainees at their site,
• 00:39so that may be true for the clinical track.
• 00:43In particular.
• 00:43Oftentimes they may support or conduct
• 00:46clinical investigation of different types.
• 00:48This is often within the clinic
• 00:50context of their practice.
• 00:51Certainly we all expect exemplary
• 00:53professional conduct of all of our faculty.
• 00:56The differences are in terms of education,
• 00:59the clinical track faculty typically teach
• 01:01in a clinical setting that's not always true,
• 01:04really.
• 01:04It depends upon you may be involved
• 01:07with leadership of of a teaching of
• 01:09a fellowship program or a residency.
• 01:12Some aspect of a residency program.
• 01:14You can still be on the clinical
• 01:17track and do that.
• 01:18But the clinical track is now seems
• 01:21to be embracing our people who are
• 01:25doing clinical or teaching locally
• 01:27and not necessarily getting doing
• 01:30scholarship that might be giving
• 01:33them more of a regional or national
• 01:36reputation for their their their work.
• 01:39The CE track typically includes more
• 01:42didactic sessions, formal courses,
• 01:45and more leadership in general.
• 01:48And again,
• 01:48the main difference is scholarship
• 01:50is required on the clinical and
• 01:52clinician educator track.
• 01:53And that's actually always been the case.
• 01:55That was one of the reasons why
• 01:57many of our faculty,
• 01:59who you know many years ago were
• 02:01on the clinician educator track for
• 02:03extended periods of time was because
• 02:05they were not developing a body of
• 02:07scholarship where they were getting
• 02:09recognized outside of the institution.
• 02:10And that's just something that was written
• 02:12into is written into our requirements,
• 02:15and so I think with the creation of the
• 02:17clinical track, and it's been the perception.
• 02:20That suddenly we have changed the
• 02:22requirements for scholarship on the on.
• 02:24The clinician educated track.
• 02:25But that's really not the
• 02:27case as I've always been.
• 02:29Fired.
