    Biography

    Simone Blaser a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Iwasaki laboratory in the department of Immunobiology and Clinical Instructor in Internal Medicine (Infectious Diseases) at Yale School of Medicine. Her research explores oral host-microbe interactions in Long COVID. She is also a Public Voices Fellow of the OpEd Project in partnership with the Yale Women Faculty Forum.

    She completed residency in Internal Medicine at New York University and fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Yale University. She has been published in CID, JAMA, MBio, Diagnosis, Clinical Correlations, and Intima: A Journal of Narrative Medicine. Prior to becoming a physician, she worked in book publishing, where she was involved in developing what would become the #1 New York Times bestseller When Breath Becomes Air with the late Dr. Paul Kalanithi. Her poetry was included in a collection on New York City haiku published by The New York Times.
