    Biography

    Richard Zhang, M.D., M.A. is a Yale child and adolescent psychiatry fellow. He graduated in June 2024 from the UConn Psychiatry Residency Program. He received his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, his master's in History of Science and Medicine from Yale, and his bachelor's degree from Penn State.

    During his residency training, he served as affiliated faculty at the UConn Asian and Asian American Studies Institute, a position he continues to maintain, and as 2023-2024 Chair of the American Psychiatric Association's Assembly Committee of Area Resident-Fellow Members (ACORF). During his recent APA Assembly term, he co-authored ten policy-proposing Action Papers and oversaw significant growth in ACORF’s productivity and advocacy.

    Dr. Zhang’s academic interests center on intersections among health, humanities, culture, and law. Concurrently with his clinical training, he is also an APA/APAF Leadership Fellow.
