    Biography

    Rakesh D. Mistry, MD, MS is Section Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and a Professor of Pediatrics (emergency medicine) at Yale School of Medicine. He was previously a Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and an Attending Physician in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO). He also previously served as the Director of Academic Affairs and Director of Research for the CHCO Section of Emergency Medicine.

    Dr. Mistry’s research focus is emergency department (ED) infectious diseases, specifically implementation of antimicrobial stewardship programs for the emergency setting using informatics and clinical decision support systems. He has obtained funding from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Emergency Medicine Foundation to support his research efforts. In addition, Dr. Mistry’s academic interests include faculty development and mentorship of future child health and emergency medicine specialists.

    Dr. Mistry is the author or co-author for over 130 original research articles, conducts peer-reviews for over 20 journals. Dr. Mistry is active in multicenter research, and has held national leadership positions in collaboratives including serving as Past-Chair of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Collaborative Research Committee (PEMCRC), Site Primary Investigator for CHCO in the federally funded Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN), and recent service Steering Committee member for the international Pediatric Emergency Research Networks (PERN). Additionally, he holds editorial positions for two peer-reviewed journals and currently serves on the American Board of Pediatrics Sub-Board of Emergency Medicine. Originally from New Jersey, his personal interests include cycling, hiking, watching and attending Rutgers sports, and spending time with his wife and son.
