May 19, 2021

Four Yale Department of Psychiatry researchers are recipients of 2021 Kavli Innovative Research Awards.

The awards, sponsored by the Kavli Institute for Neuroscience, are seed grants to Yale investigators to support early-stage, innovative neuroscience research projects that test bold, new ideas. Through these grants, the Institute aims to catalyze interdisciplinary collaborations between two or more investigators with different expertise.

This year’s recipients from the Yale Department of Psychiatry are:

  • Alfred Kaye, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry: “Exploring the Continuum of Threat-Imminence Oscillations Using Human iEEG.” The project was a collaboration with Eyiyemisi Damisah, MD, Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery.
  • Hyojung Seo, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and of Neuroscience; Nenad Sestan, MD, PhD, Harvey and Kate Cushing Professor of Neuroscience, and Professor of Comparative Medicine, of Genetics and of Psychiatry; and Amy Arnsten, PhD, Albert E. Kent Professor of Neuroscience and Professor of Psychology: “Genetic Strategies to Investigate the Roles of GABAergic Interneurons of the Primate Prefrontal Cortex in Cognitive and Motivational Regulation.”
