Yale-Hew Haven Hospital (YNHH) will reorganize several senior leadership positions, and a new hospital administrator will oversee Behavioral Health beginning in January.

Michael D. Holmes, Senior Vice President Operations and Chief Integration Officer Saint Raphael Campus, will assume additional administrative responsibility for Behavioral Health.

The announcement was made December 16 by Richard D’Aquila, President of YNHH. He said the hospital is realigning several positions after the retirement January 8, 2016, of Tucker Leary, Vice President Physician Development.

The changes mean Abe Lopman, Senior Vice President Operations and Executive Director Smilow Cancer Hospital, will no longer oversee the hospital’s Behavioral Health program. In addition to his current administrative responsibilities, Lopman will also be Clinical Service Coordinator for Digestive Diseases, and will focus on building a comprehensive Digestive Diseases center of excellence at the hospital.

Mr. Lopman has been a wonderful colleague and supporter of Behavioral Health within YNHH.

“Mr. Lopman has been a wonderful colleague and supporter of Behavioral Health within YNHH,” said John Krystal, MD, Robert L. McNeil, Jr. Professor of Psychiatry and Professor of Neuroscience, and Chair of the Yale Department of Psychiatry, in a statement. “We will miss working with him. However, we are also excited by the opportunity to work closely with Mr. Holmes, who has already collaborated with us on a number of projects.”

Holmes has worked at YNHH since 2013. He is the former Executive Vice President and COO at Franciscan St. James Health in Chicago. He has more than 25 years of experience in senior leadership positions in multi-hospital, Catholic healthcare systems. He holds a BS in public health administration from Indiana University and an MS in administration from the University of Notre Dame.
