Pulido Saavedra Selected to Receive ASHP Travel Award

Alejandra Pulido Saavedra, MD, a postdoctoral associate, was selected to receive a travel award to attend and present her work at the American Society of Hispanic Psychiatry (ASHP) annual meeting in New York on May 3 and 4, 2024.

The ASHP aims to advance mental health research, education, and clinical activities by fostering collaboration among Hispanic mental health professionals. Pulido Saavedra will compete for the ASHP Don Quixote Award, which is presented for the best oral presentation by an early-career investigator.

She works at the Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit (CNRU) of the Connecticut Mental Health Center. She is part of the Yale Cocaine Research Clinic, where she is mentored by Gustavo Angarita, MD, MHS, assistant professor of psychiatry.

She will present a PET imaging study examining longitudinal changes in synaptic plasticity in individuals with cocaine use disorder. The study which was funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) with the grant 1 RO1 DA052454-01A1.
