Arnim Dontes, MBA

Arnim Dontes is deputy dean for finance & administration at Yale School of Medicine (YSM). He joined YSM in July 2021, leading the medical school’s financial, budgetary, human resources, capital planning, information technology, and administrative functions across the medical school, and chairs YSM’s safety and security committee. In his role, he collaborates directly with the dean and deputy deans of the medical school, and the administrative and academic leadership teams within Yale University and the Yale New Haven Health System in setting strategic priorities and directing financial resources to support the educational, research, and clinical missions of the medical school.

Prior to YSM, Mr. Dontes served as executive vice president for business affairs at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) from 2011 to 2021. While there, he directed more than 15 business and service-related departments, including accounting, budget & resource planning, contracts management, facilities management, financial affairs, general services, human resources, information technology, safety and business continuity, sponsored programs administration, supply chain management, and the university's police department. He served as the national chair elect, chair, and immediate past chair for the Association of American Medical College’s Group on Business Affairs from 2011 through 2014.

For more than 20 years, Mr. Dontes also held leadership positions, including vice dean for administration, at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where he was responsible for the financial and operational teams within the school's 30 basic science and clinical departments.

Mr. Dontes earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and holds an MBA from the University of Illinois Chicago.
