Meeting with experts and change-makers who are pushing for progress in health policy has reinforced my commitment to this field. It was a chance to see how dedicated individuals, often behind the scenes, are working tirelessly to create meaningful, lasting change for communities in the U.S. and worldwide.
U.S. Global Health Policy and Advocacy Study Tour
The U.S. Global Health Policy and Advocacy Study Tour is open to students from across Yale to understand the U.S. global health policy landscape, including context, key agencies and actors, issues and funding for global health and to learn basic tools to effective global health advocacy in Washington, D.C. The program also exposes students to career opportunities in global health, connecting them with professionals and equipping them with practical knowledge for their future careers.
The Study Tour is co-sponsored by the Global Health Studies Program at the Jackson School for Global Affairs, the Global Health Concentration at the Yale School of Public Health, the Office of Global Health Education at the Yale School of Medicine and the Office of Global Engagement and Planetary Health at the Yale School of Nursing. Participation in the Study Tour is fully funded and limited to up to 20 students from across campus who submit a competitive application.
Prior to the trip, students must participate in two pre-tour seminars focused on building relationships in the group and discussing the background and landscape of U.S. global health policymaking. After the trip, students will participate in a closing seminar to reflect on their experience. Organizations featured on the tour have included:

Any current Yale student or trainee is eligible to apply. Please note that individuals who have previously participated are not eligible to reapply.
Is funding provided to participate?
Yes, in partnership with the Global Health Studies Program at the Jackson School for Global Affairs, the Global Health Concentration at the Yale School of Public Health, the Office of Global Health Education at the Yale School of Medicine, and the Office of Global Engagement and Planetary Health at the Yale School of Nursing, the program supports all travel, lodging, and meal costs.
