Overview
Carlos R. Oliveira, MD, PhD, is a pediatric infectious diseases specialist with expertise in the treatment of viral infections.
Dr. Oliveira is the director of Congenital Infectious Diseases at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital and is part of the leadership of the pediatric HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 programs.
“I have a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of perinatal infections, including infections acquired before birth, during the delivery process, and in early infancy,” Dr. Oliveira says. “I also have expertise in the evaluation and management of COVID-19 and its long-term complications in children.”
Dr. Oliveira is also the co-leader of the Yale Network for Vaccine Initiatives, which is committed to improving population health through research and service activities that promote vaccination.
His research focuses on vaccine epidemiology, including post-licensure effectiveness and population level-impact, with the goal of developing and implementing strategies to improve vaccine research and decrease the burden of vaccine-related diseases.
