The Department of Neurosurgery supports cutting-edge neuroscience research.

Our approaches range from state-of-the-art fundamental molecular and cellular biology of the brain to gene discovery in neurological diseases and innovative translational research.

We are supported by extramural grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, special interest foundations, and endowments.

We maintain close and productive collaborations with departments throughout Yale, including Neuroscience, Neurology, Genetics, Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Physiology, and Biomedical Engineering, among others.

Our laboratories host undergraduate, medical, and doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, residents in neurosurgery, and visiting scientists from around the world.

Collectively, we are a dynamic group working at the leading edge of neuroscience research and contributing to the educational mission of the School of Medicine.
