Mina L. Xu, MD, Named Founding Director of New Expert Consultation Practice in Pathology

Mina L. Xu, MD, Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, has been named the Founding Director of the new Expert Consultation Practice for Yale Pathology. In this role, Dr. Xu will lead the clinical consultation practice of Pathology, as well as restructure the expert personal consultation faculty practice.

“I could not envision a better person than Dr. Xu to lead this critical clinical program, which holds the potential to transform our future pathology practice,” Chen Liu, MD, PhD, Chair of Yale Pathology said.

Dr. Xu is currently Director of the Hematopathology Section. She completed her undergraduate education at Harvard College, earned her MD degree from the UCSF School of Medicine, and completed her AP/CP residency in our department. Furthermore, she did her Hematopathology Fellowship at Harvard/BWH and subsequently joined our faculty.

Dr. Xu has established a distinguished career at Yale and is a leading expert in the pathology diagnosis of hematological diseases. Her research in the pathobiology of hematologic malignancies has been published in top-tier journals within the field. Additionally, she has served as a co-investigator for numerous research grants. As an internationally recognized academic pathologist, Dr. Xu frequently offers courses at USCAP, serves as a CAP committee member for Hematology/Clinical Microscopy, and is a lead author in the upcoming International Consensus Classification for hematopathology.

Dr. Xu receives national and international personal hematopathology consultations and has been a vital member of our department management team. She actively advocates for the expansion of our clinical service to patients.
