Title: Optimizing Exposure Assessment in Real-World Cannabis Studies – The Power of Natural Language Processing

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of utilizing electronic health record data in cannabis use related clinical research, encompassing coded data limitations, complexities of epidemiological factors, and non-standardized documentation.
  2. Identify and appraise contemporary techniques aimed at enhancing the precision and sensitivity of exposure measurement in EHR data, namely natural language processing techniques and computable phenotypes, and the steps involved in developing and validating these techniques.
  3. Interpret and evaluate findings revealing differences in postoperative pain levels and opioid needs in older adults who use cannabis to discern potential postoperative implications and formulate tailored pain management strategies and approaches.

    Addiction Medicine Grand Rounds are CME accredited. Each session will be assigned 1 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.
