About

Research Scientist in Neuroscience

Biography

My training is in genetics, biophysics and neuroscience. I study how novel genes appear de novo in evolution, generate new protein structures and function in the brain. I am interested in how de novo genes direct evolutionary changes in the brains of humans and other Primates. I combine mathematical modeling, computational biophysics algorithms and neurogenetics experiments.
