YCCI’s training initiatives are structured to provide comprehensive support and education to individuals at various stages of their research careers, fostering a thriving community of clinical and translational researchers dedicated to advancing human health. These include Jr. Faculty Scholars, PhD Training, Mentoring, Faculty Clinical Research Training and Team Science.

Junior Faculty Scholars
The YCCI Junior Faculty Scholars Program began in 2006 as the educational arm of the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation. The mission remains to attract a diverse group of highly talented junior faculty across multiple disciplines in the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Public Health and Biomedical Engineering who are interested in pursuing careers in any aspect (T1-T4) of translational research: to imbue them with a spirit of discovery; to train them in the use of state-of-the-art research tools; to give them the skills to work in complex and diverse multidisciplinary research teams; and to support their professional development.
PhD Training
Yale’s Investigative Medicine Program (IMP) is primarily supported by the Clinical and Translational Science Award. This program awards a PhD degree in Investigative Medicine to physicians who have completed their clinical training and subsequently decided to pursue a research career. IMP trainees pursue either a laboratory-based track or a clinical research track and are students in Yale’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The over-arching goal of the IMP program is to train creative translational researchers devoted to patient-oriented investigation.
Mentoring
YCCI mentoring programs play a crucial role in supporting individuals as they navigate personal and professional challenges, develop new skills, and pursue their goals. By facilitating meaningful connections between mentors and mentees, these programs contribute to individual growth, knowledge sharing, and the cultivation of supportive communities.
Team Science
Developing an academic and clinical culture suited to interdisciplinary collaborative research.
