José M.P. Méndez Chévere is entering his third year at Universidad de Puerto Rico Recindo de Mayagüez and is majoring in Industrial Microbiology. This semester he is enrolled in Microbiology, Medical Mycology, Statistics and Sociohumanity courses. An aspiring physician, his interest include research in Astrobotany and Biotechnology.

About My YCCI Internship

My experience as an YCCI intern was amazing. I was able to develop, alongside my team, a wonderful project that made children and adolescent assent forms more user friendly and less intimidating. During my time as an intern, I got the chance to speak with so many professionals; it was truly inspiring. It was incredible how I could ask questions of these professionals and have a productive conversation. I really learned a lot and my goal to become a physician became much clearer.
