PET and MRI in OCD and/or Tic disorders

This is a pilot study in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Tic Disorders (Tics) utilizing Positron Emission Tomography (PET) with [¹¹C]PHNO to image dopamine receptors. It is designed to better understand the development and progression of Tic Disorders (Tic DO) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) by observing different areas of the brain and brain chemicals present in those areas. Participants will be asked to consider taking part in a study that involves completing some measures, having a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan with a radiotracer called ¹¹C-PHNO, and having a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan.

We need 60 unmedicated (no psychoactive medication), adult subjects (18-65 years): 15 with OCD, 15 with Tic disorders, 15 with both OCD and tics (which are frequently comorbid), and 15 healthy controls to complete evaluations, measures, PET and MRI scans. The study will last about 10 hours over several appointments while participants meet with research staff and doctors to complete a screening, an intake, a physical exam, an ekg, blood and urine testing, ratings, MRI and PET. All questions will be answered. All information is held confidential.
