    Biography

    Patrick Young, PhD is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Laboratory Medicine. He earned his PhD in Geology and Geophysics from Yale University, concentrating on mantle dynamics and chemistry. Prior to joining Yale School of Medicine, he was an Analyst at Prometheus Research, LLC where he contributed to the development of Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) applications. He has also worked at ExxonMobil developing a Bayesian belief network-based model to predict the composition and evolution of sand grains in large watersheds. He brings a strong background in quantitative research, experience developing enterprise software solutions, and expertise in clinical informatics systems and data models. At YSM, Patrick is focused on architecting and building the comprehensive Computational Health Informatics Platform (CHIP) for YNHHS under the supervision of Dr. Wade Schulz, Assistant Professor, Director of Informatics, Laboratory Medicine. He also provides expertise in machine learning and statistical methods and clinical data models to support various informatics projects at YSM/YNHH to leverage the CHIP for predictive modeling and precision medicine.
