    Dr. Justin Persico attended Tufts University School of Medicine where he also completed his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology. He sees patients with all types of malignancies but is also a board certified hematologist.

    Justin Persico, MD, specializes in medical oncology and hematology with a focus on gastrointestinal health, specifically gastrointestinal cancer diagnosis and treatment. He is the medical director of the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Centers at Trumbull and Fairfield Connecticut.

    Dr. Persico says he chose oncology as a specialty because the treatment options continue to grow and there are steady improvements in cancer outcomes. "I place a strong value on both pre-clinical and clinical research in oncology and enjoy discussing these efforts with my patients."

    Dr. Persico participates in multiple research efforts including national and international clinical trials. His research interests include early onset gastrointestinal cancers, colorectal cancer, and the application of artificial intelligence in oncology.
