Overview
Jennifer Ouellet, MD, is a geriatrician who specializes in the care of older adults with multiple chronic illnesses.
“I spend most of my time caring for older adults in the hospital setting, optimizing their mental status, mobility, and medications, and helping them to achieve what matters most to them in the context of their health care,” Dr. Ouellet says. “My favorite part of my job is making relationships with patients and their caregivers and helping them reach their goals.”
Dr. Ouellet says she enjoys how her specialty allows her to blend the art and science of medicine to help patients achieve what matters most to them. “All of my patients have a unique combination of medical conditions, social circumstances, goals, and preferences,” she says.
When not caring for patients, she is an educator, teaching the core principles of geriatric medicine to medical trainees and practicing clinicians. To inform her educational efforts, she also studies the impact of educational interventions.
“I love having the opportunity to impact the lives of the next generation of medical leaders by helping them optimize the care of older adults,” Dr. Ouellet says.
