    Overview

    Hamita Sachar, MD, is a gastroenterologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including disorders of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon. She believes that excellent medical care begins with listening and understanding each patient's individual concerns and goals, and she is committed to providing thoughtful, compassionate, and evidence-based care.

    In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Sachar is a physician leader focused on improving the delivery of ambulatory care. Her work has included advancing patient access, clinical quality and safety, care delivery, and operational improvement across ambulatory practices.

    Dr. Sachar's academic interests include gastrointestinal endoscopy, sedation and anesthesia, and quality and safety in endoscopic care. She has been recognized for her contributions to research and medical education, including receiving the Samuel Kushlan Award for Excellence in Research and a teaching award from Yale's chief residents.

    Dr. Sachar is an associate professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine and serves in a leadership role within Yale Medicine's ambulatory clinical enterprise.
