    Overview

Danya Rosen, MD, is a pediatric gastroenterologist who specializes in treating inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.

“It is an exciting time in the field of IBD. We now have so many more medications available to us and it is rewarding to see patients improve and feel much better once we find the right fit for them,” she says.

Dr. Rosen is medical director of the Yale New Haven Pediatric Specialty Center in Greenwich, where she leads the Fairfield County IBD Clinic. “We offer comprehensive, multidisciplinary services close to home for our Fairfield County patients,” she says.

The IBD clinic consists of a team that includes Dr. Rosen, a Yale dietician, and a pediatric social worker. The Greenwich office includes an on-site infusion center. She is also the director of a monthly feeding clinic, which includes a dietician and speech language pathologist (SLP).

At Yale New Haven Health’s Greenwich Hospital, Dr. Rosen performs procedures including endoscopy and colonoscopy. She also treats children with a wide range of GI-related illnesses, including reflux, abdominal pain, constipation, celiac disease, and eosinophilic esophagitis.

Dr. Rosen says she believes it is important to always discuss nutrition and how it affects the gut with her patients and their families. “With my own kids, I would much rather make dietary changes than give them medications,” she says. “I take that same approach with my patients.”

She has received grant support from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) to examine the transition of IBD care from pediatric to adult practitioners, studies how electronic medical records can be used to improve care of IBD patients. Dr. Rosen is an assistant professor of pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine.
