    Clinical Care

    Overview

Amy Turitz, MD, is a maternal-fetal medicine specialist who takes care of women with high-risk pregnancies at Greenwich Hospital.

Dr. Turitz says she became interested in women’s health in college and soon knew she wanted to be an obstetrician-gynecologist. “Pregnancy is fascinating to me and what I like about maternal-fetal medicine is that I can help women get through the best and worst of times,” she says. “It’s an honor and a privilege to take care of women during this life-changing event.”

Dr. Turitz does not deliver babies but performs consults and prenatal ultrasounds for women who have medical complications, fetal anomalies, or conditions or histories that put mother and child at risk, including high blood pressure, diabetes, and risk factors for preterm birth

Her approach to patient care is one of openness and transparency, Dr. Turitz says. “I give my patients all the information they may need, including everything I am checking for because I want them to be prepared,” she says. “I like to empower my patients. When there is a complicated pregnancy, it can be a scary time and I try to be as empathetic as possible and partner with patients to get them through the process.”

Dr. Turitz also has expertise in diagnostic genetic testing procedures, including amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. Her research interests include preterm birth, fetal growth restriction, and medical and obstetric complications of pregnancy.
