Six Yale School of Medicine (YSM) faculty members have been recognized for their significant career accomplishments and contributions to the medical practice, science and medicine, and the community. At a ceremony on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, the following individuals were honored for receiving the David J. Leffell, MD, Prize for Clinical Excellence and the Distinguished Clinical Career Award.

David J. Leffell, MD, Prize for Clinical Excellence
In 2008, Cindy and David Leffell made a generous gift in honor of David’s 30th reunion at Yale College. Since then, annually, the David J. Leffell, MD, Prize for Clinical Excellence has recognized a Yale Medicine faculty member who best exemplifies clinical expertise, a commitment to teaching, and the highest standards of care and compassion for patients. A single recipient is selected each year.

Yale Medicine Distinguished Clinical Career Award
The Yale Medicine Distinguished Clinical Career Award honors physicians who have contributed to Yale Medicine for at least 20 years since completing their fellowship training and whose careers are marked by significant accomplishments, exemplary dedication, and important contributions to advancing the practice, the overall medical profession, and the community. The award is intended to honor faculty members who are widely recognized as distinguished clinicians and who have devoted the main part of their careers to Yale. For 2025, the following five individuals were selected to receive this award.
