    Christopher Tien inducted as a Fellow of the AAPM, Class of 2024

    Tien is one of youngest Fellows inducted in AAPM history

    ALEXANDRIA, Va. (August 1, 2024)— The American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) is pleased to announce that Dr. Christopher Tien has been elected a Fellow of the Association. The category of Fellow honors members who have distinguished themselves by their contributions in research, education, or leadership in the medical physics community.

    The award was presented at the 2024 AAPM 66th Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Los Angeles, CA, on July 22, 2024.

    At 38, Dr. Christopher Tien was inducted as one of the youngest AAPM Fellows in association history.

    Dr. Tien specializes in brachytherapy and serves as the Chair of Task Group 59.B - High dose-rate brachytherapy treatment delivery. He has been involved with 13 AAPM Task Groups and Working Groups. Additionally, he has served as President of the AAPM Connecticut Chapter and as the Connecticut Chapter Representative to AAPM’s Board.

    We congratulate him on this achievement.

    The American Association of Physicists in Medicine is an organization of over 9,600 medical physicists,
    in 87 countries, and supports the Medical Physics community with a focus on advancing patient care
    through education, improving safety and efficacy of radiation oncology and medical imaging procedures
    through research, and the maintenance of professional standards.
