    Teen Brain and Behavior Study

    What is the purpose of this trial?

    The goal of this study is to understand how 13 to 17 year old adolescents think, feel, and behave. There are three cohorts of teenagers; teens with depression, teens with schizophrenia or psychosis, and healthy control teens.

    This study will have a few visits at Yale in New Haven, spread across 18 months, including at least 2 MRI scans, clinical interviews and some computer tests. Participants will be paid up to $650, depending on eligibility and participation.

    Criteria for each are listed below:

    Depression Study

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • 13-17 y/o
    • Currently depressed
    • Right-handed
    • Able to have an MRI (no braces, claustrophobia, metal implants)
    • No major medical or neurological conditions
    • No ADHD, substance use disorder or PTSD

    Teen Schizophrenia or Psychosis Study

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • 13-17 y/o
    • diagnosed with psychosis or schizophrenia, or hear voices and have odd thoughts
    • Right-handed
    • Able to have an MRI (no braces, claustrophobia, metal implants
    • No major medical or neurological conditions

    Study for Healthy Teenagers

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • 13-17 y/o
    • Right-handed
    • Able to have an MRI (no braces, claustrophobia, metal implants)
    • No psychiatric, medical or neurological conditions
