As a translational physician-scientist specializing in gastroesophageal cancer and peritoneal metastases, my research at Yale University is geared toward elucidating the complex interactions within the tumor microenvironment. Using advanced multi-omic and spatial profiling techniques, my work aims to uncover the intricate dynamics that drive tumor progression, therapeutic resistance, and immune evasion. This multidisciplinary approach integrates comprehensive genomic and transcriptomic analyses to reveal specific biomarkers and therapeutic vulnerabilities, ultimately leading to more effective and personalized treatment strategies. Gastroesophageal cancer represents a significant challenge due to its heterogeneous nature and poor prognosis, especially when associated with peritoneal metastases. Central to my research is the detailed investigation of the tumor microenvironment, a multifaceted ecosystem comprising cancer cells, stromal components, immune elements, and various signaling molecules. Through comprehensive spatial profiling and single-cell analyses, my work explores how intratumor heterogeneity and the cellular constituents of the tumor microenvironment contribute to cancer progression, immune evasion, and therapeutic resistance.

Leveraging advanced technologies such as genomic sequencing, transcriptomics, and spatial profiling, my research delves into the alterations that drive the behavior of gastroesophageal cancer and peritoneal metastases. This multiomic approach has revealed intricate spatial and functional heterogeneity within tumors, identifying distinct evolutionary trajectories and molecular subtypes that are crucial for devising targeted therapies. A cornerstone of my research has been the identification of biomarkers and therapeutic vulnerabilities within the gastroesophageal cancer landscape. Through collaborative projects and extensive profiling, my team has uncovered specific signatures associated with disease progression and treatment response. Through these multifaceted efforts, my research strives to significantly advance the scientific community's understanding of cancer biology and contribute to the development of novel, more effective therapies for gastroesophageal cancer patients.
