    Biography

    Dr. Werdiger is trained in both neurology and internal medicine. He has been a practicing clinical neurologist since 1982. His interests include neurological complications or medical illness, cerebrovascular disease and dementia. He is the recipient of an Outstanding Clinical Teaching Award from the Department of Neurology.

    Overview

    Norman Werdiger, MD, assistant chief of neurology for Yale New Haven Hospital, treats patients with a wide range of neurological disorders and problems. He has particular interests in public health and in the neurological complications of medical disorders.

    An associate clinical professor of neurology at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Werdiger is excited about promising research that is expected to lead to better treatments, including clinical trials for patients with Alzheimer's Disease.

    “As the result of advances in medical and neurological research, technology and pharmacology, we now have effective prevention and treatment strategies for many potentially disabling disorders, including acute stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease and migraine headaches,” Dr. Werdiger says. “It is also possible to imagine realizing effective preventive and treatment strategies for many other disorders in the near future.” Dr. Werdiger has been recognized as a Connecticut Magazine Top Doctor.
