VA Connecticut Health Care System Selected for Cooperative Studies Program, Network of Dedicated Enrollment Sites

    January 17, 2022

The VA Connecticut Health Care System has been selected as a site for the VA Cooperative Studies Programs, Network of Dedicated Enrollment Sites (CSP NODES).

The West Haven NODES will be co-directed by Mehmet Sofuoglu, MD, PhD, professor of psychiatry, and Judith Meadows, MD, MPH, associate professor of medicine (cardiology).

The VA Cooperative Studies Program is the division of VA research and development that is responsible for the planning and conduct of large multicenter clinical trials and epidemiological studies in the Department of Veterans Affairs. It aims to advance the health and care of veterans through cooperative, multisite clinical research studies across multiple medical specialties.

The consortium conducts VA CSP studies, shares best practices, and serves as an incubator for new research ideas and innovations. Ten sites were selected to join the CSP NODES following a competitive scientific review.

Sofuoglu said the West Haven site’s selection for the consortium will expand the clinical research portfolio of the VA Connecticut Health Care System and provide greater opportunities for clinicians and researchers to serve as investigators in multi-site clinical research studies.
