Recruitment Lists
Patient List
Researchers can use self-service tools like SlicerDicer or collaborate with Yale’s Research Informatics Office (RIO) to develop and implement an Epic based query designed to search through all patients in the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) electronic health record (EHR). As this query runs, it identifies high-level patient matches based on a study’s eligibility criteria. Researchers are provided with a list of patients for additional screening and eligibility review.
Screening Report
Researchers interested in a patient list that includes additional information about eligible patients will utilize a screening report. Once RIO has created a patient list, based on study eligibility criteria, researchers will work with RIO to finalize the additional information needed for screening purposes.
- Screening reports can include patient specific information, such as:
- patient MRN, patient name, patient phone number, patient ethnicity, patient race, etc...
- Screening reports can include encounter specific information, such as:
- specific blood test value, medications prescribed, discharge disposition, next appointment in a specific clinic/department, etc...
Benefits of Patient List / Screening Report:
- Identify high-level patient matches based on eligibility criteria
- Reach patients across the entire Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS)
- including Bridgeport, Westerly, Greenwich, and the NEMG outpatient practices – and federally-qualified community health centers, with appropriate approvals
- Receive patient specific information for assessing eligibility
How to get started with a Screening List / Patient List?
Submit a data request through the request portal.
TIP: To accelerate, use self-service tools to draft a patient list and share the request
