Cosmos

The Cosmos data set combines billions of clinical data points, made up of data from across the Epic community, to form the largest database of EHR patient information. Participating organizations provide a HIPAA-defined limited data set to the centralized Cosmos database. With over 34,200 Clinics and 1,522 Hospitals participating in Cosmos, researchers can access a representative sample of patients who seek healthcare. How to request access to Cosmos?

Yale University users with Research Basic Access and appropriate HIPAA training can request access here. YNHHS users must complete Epic’s Cosmos Super User Badge. To maintain access, Slicer-Dicer proficiency demonstration is required, including supporting peers new to Slicer Dicer or Cosmos.

Cosmos Data Science Portal. To access Cosmos Data Science platform, you must have the Cosmos Super User Badge. and complete Epic’s train tracks required for the Data Scientist Role in the Cosmos Training Grid. Epic only allows users that have completed all pre-requisites to take the course. When pre-requisites are complete requests can be submitted here.
