Dr. Kiran Turaga believes that a cancer-free world is more than a vision; it's a reality he believes will come in our lifetime, with innovations like hypothermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) that, at Dr. Turaga's direction, are poised to grow the destination program at Yale.
Advanced surgical techniques are contributing to better cancer care for patients with peritoneal cancer, a rare type of cancer that occurs within the pelvic or abdominal cavity. HIPEC uses heat to deliver a targeted concentration of chemotherapy directly to the abdominal cavity.
